Margie C. Hulsey, age 91, Arab, Alabama, passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at Albertville Health & Rehabilitation. Ms. Hulsey was born April 8, 1932 in Calhoun County to Donald and Mellie Chasteen. Margie and her military husband, Norman Lewis Hulsey moved to Arab from Arizona in 1965. Margie was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Gilliam Springs Baptist Church. She and Norman were married for 53 years when he passed away in 2006. Margie was a homemaker who loved to cook and provide for her children and grandchildren. She was an avid reader and loved to travel. She enjoyed the outdoors, and spent many hours sitting on her front porch simply enjoying nature. Her children and grandchildren were the loves of her life and she enjoyed every minute of time spent with them.

Family members left behind to cherish memories of Margie include: daughters, Sherry H. Woody and Cynthia “Cindy” Mahan (David); sons, Scott Hulsey (Kelly) and Norris D. Burgess; twelve grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Ms. Hulsey is preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Mellie Chasteen; husband, Norman Lewis Hulsey; son, William R. Burgess; daughter-in-law, Nancy Burgess; son-in-law, Drew Woody; and five siblings.

Visitation and funeral services are planned for Saturday, July 1, 2023 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. The Funeral service will be immediately after the visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Arab Memorial Cemetery,

Pallbearers escorting Ms. Hulsey to her final resting place will be: Scott Hulsey, Phillip Stafford, Jaxson Rigsby, Payton Key, Kevin Walmsley, Jeff Johnson and Larry Brantley. Preston Key will serve as honorary pallbearer.
