Funeral services for Mrs. Margie “Alene” Dunavant Laster, age 94, are scheduled for 1 PM on Saturday June 23, 2018 at First United Pentecostal Church in Lexington with Bro. Bobby Beecham, Bro. Danny Beecham, Bro. Nick Wilson, and Sis. Diane Beecham officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Decatur County.
Mrs. Alene passed away on Tuesday June 19, 2018 in Jackson, TN. She was born June 13, 1924 in Decatur, Co., TN to the late Will F. and Delah Tillman Dunavant. She was a member of the First Pentecostal Church in Lexington, and enjoyed gardening and yard work.
Mrs. Alene was preceded in death by her husband, Arvel Laster, three brothers; Willie Floyd, Franklin D., and Jerl Dunavant. Survivors include her son, Ron Laster (Janet), daughter, Patty (the late Charles) Bishop, brother, John W. Dunavant (Charlene), sisters, Sue Hayes (the late Vaughn), and June (L.V.) Wyatt, three grandchildren; Kathryn (Kevin) Harper of Beech Bluff, TN, Paul Bishop of Lexington, and Michele (Randy) Cagle of Murfreesboro, three great grandchildren; Briana, Matthew, and C.J. Bishop, and six great-great grandchildren; Sheila, Stephenie, Chloe, Sophia, Caitlyn, and Jason Bishop.
