Margarite C. Smith departed this life on September 29, 2014 in Harbert Hills Nursing Home at the age of 82 Years, 5 Months, 19 Days. She was born April 10, 1932, the daughter of the late Harmon Crete and Laura Marley Crete.
She was united in marriage to Edgar Bally Smith in 1982. Mr. Smith preceded her in death on October 15, 1987.
Mrs. Smith was employed at one time as a dishwasher for Cherry’s Truck Stop Restaurant and she also worked for a sewing factory in previous years. While married to her first husband, James Williams, she lived in the Springtown Community in Savannah, Tennessee for about 40 years. She married Edgar Bally Smith in 1982 and lived on Pickwick Road for about 20 years. In the last years of her life she lived at Harbert Hills Nursing Home until her death. She was a member of the People’s Tabernacle Church for a few years and then went to the Gospel Church for four years. She enjoyed making herself look pretty every day and loved to visit with her family, especially her great grandchildren, Erick and Lakesha Pickens, and her great-great grandchildren, Gaberilla Powers and Layce Pickens.
She is survived by a son, James Williams Jr.; one Grandchild, Darlene Hottiman; four step great-grandchildren, Erick Dalton Pickens, Colton Hudson, Lakesha Darcell Pickens, and Heather Hottiman; and two step great-great-grandchilren, Gaberilla Powers and Layce Darcell Pickens.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by two sisters, Celia Vocha and Dorothy Shaver, three brothers and three other sisters, all of Nashville, Tennessee.
