Funeral services for Margaret Miller, age 81, of Decatur, will be Thursday, August 1, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Wesley Stover officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00PM until 2:00 PM prior to service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Miller, who died Friday, July 26, 2024, at her residence, was born April 10, 1943, in Blount County to Reverend Carl Nix and Francis Whited Nix. She was a member of the South Chapel Hill Baptist Church; loved to work in her garden; was famous for her fried okra. Mrs. Miller may not have been a biological mother, but she loved children dearly; she has taught them in Sunday School and was a great babysitter.
Margaret is survived by her brother, Jimmy Nix; a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Lee Miller; parents, Reverend Carl Nix and Francis Nix; brother, Arvil Nix; sister, Betty Gene Hicks.
Pallbearers will be Justin Nix, Brandon Nix, Ryan Nix, Jeff McCullough, Grant Workman and Andy Miller.
