Don Carlos Smith, 68, passed away March 11, 2025, at his home in Trenton, AL. Don was born December 9, 1956, in Huntsville, AL. He was a 1975 graduate of Lee High School. He graduated from the University of AL in 1980 and was so proud that both his children also graduated from his alma mater. He then earned a Master’s degree from the Florida Institute of Technology in 1989.
Don is survived by his children, Megan Smith Warren (Derek) of Denver, CO and Jason Smith (Jenny) of Huntsville, AL and three grandchildren, Jack Smith, Josie Smith and Arlo Warren. He was preceded in death by his father, Carlos Smith Jr.; his mother, Willie H. Smith; and three sisters, Victoria Smith Fluke, Sheila Smith and infant Mona Sue.
Don was a devoted, loving father and a generous person. His many pets, to include Rhett, Scarlett and Joey, brought decades of joy to his life. He cherished the Valley, enjoyed hunting, and loved Alabama football.
During his career of about 40 years, Don supported NASA contracts and the Defense Industry in Huntsville, AL.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. There will be a graveside service on Monday, March 17, 2025, at the Trenton Cemetery, in Trenton, AL.
