Margaret Louise Watkins Bradford – Obituary

MargaretMargaret Louise Watkins Bradford, formerly of Florence, Alabama, was born Dec. 27, 1922, in Florence, Alabama, the daughter of the late Oscar Perry and Myrtle Clark Watkins. She was united in marriage to Paul Austin Bradford, and he preceded her in death on July 26, 1981. Mrs. Bradford moved to Taylor from Alabama about 11 years ago. She was a member of Sunset Church of Christ, Taylor, and Mt. Zion Church of Christ, Florence, and enjoyed reading, quilting, gardening and loved to cook and take care of her family. She departed this life Sunday, Aug. 16, 2015, at her daughter’s home in Belleville, Michigan, at the age of 92 years, seven months and 20 days.
Survivors are daughters, Shirley Olive (Bobby), Belleville, Michigan, and Kathy Williams (David), Taylor, Michigan; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, with one on-the-way; seven great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Other than her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law, David Lester and Joyce Poindexter Bradford, and nine siblings.
Services will be Friday, Aug. 21, 2015, at 1 p.m. at Mt. Zion Church of Christ, Florence, Alabama, with Sonny Owens and Paul Staples officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County, directing. Visitation will be today from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Shackelford Funeral Home, Collinwood, Tennessee. Her body will be placed in the church one hour before the services Friday.
