Margaret Jeanette Harris, a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and faithful servant of God, entered into the presence of the Lord on March 19, 2025. She lived a life full of love, kindness, and unwavering faith, touching the hearts of all who knew her.

Jeanette was born on July 20, 1933, in Jemison, Alabama, where she grew up on her family farm. She attended Jemison High School and later worked as a secretary and administrator. However, her greatest joy was being a stay-at-home mother, raising her children with love and devotion.

She was first married to Bobby Duran for 23 years, and together they had two children: Susan Jeanette Elliott and Michael Duran. Though their marriage ended in divorce, they shared a deep love for their children.

In 1980, Jeanette married the love of her life, Sarge—Claude Hobson Harris. They built a life together filled with faith, family, and love until his passing in 1996.

Jeanette’s children and grandchildren were the light of her life. Her daughter, Susan, is the mother of two sons, Ian and Isaiah. Her son, Michael, who passed away in 1983, left behind two beloved children, Joshua Duran and Jennie Skelton. She also dearly loved their grandson, Hobbie, who is married to Camille, and their two sons, Wells and Carson Hall.

A woman of deep and abiding faith, Jeanette was an active member of Hope Valley Bible Church, where she spent countless hours in prayer and service. Her prayer life was the foundation of everything she did, and she was known for always lifting up her loved ones and those in need before the Lord. She lived by the words of 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, which guided every aspect of her life:

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”

Jeanette’s faith was her greatest strength, and she carried it with her wherever she went. Throughout her life, she lived in Italy, Turkey, Germany, and across the United States, always finding ways to share God’s love. She found joy in playing bridge, painting, and writing poetry, but her greatest passion was spending time with her family and serving the Lord.

A celebration of Jeanette’s life will be held on March 30, 2025, at Hope Valley Bible Church at 3:00 PM, with visitation beginning at 1:30 p.m.

Flowers are welcome as a tribute to the love and warmth she shared with the world.

Margaret Jeanette Harris will be deeply missed but forever remembered. Her love, faith, and kindness will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
