Margaret Frances Gobbell Gamble – Obituary

Margaret Frances Gobbell Gamble was born August 24, 1944 and passed away August 19, 2012 after a short illness. Her family will receive friends at Elkins Funeral Home Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. The graveside service will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens. Tommy Williams will officiate.

Margaret was a Lauderdale County native and was retired after 21 years of service with SunTrust Bank. She was a woman of many talents and varied interests. During her lifetime she had many hobbies including decorating, cooking and creating some of her own recipes, knitting, and refinishing furniture. She loved to read and was an oil and acrylic artist.

The cookbook she wrote, “Tasty Creations” was first published in 1994 and went into its second printing in 2011. It was her pride and joy.

She devoted her life to taking care of her loving husband Philip Neal Gamble, son Philip Neal II and daughter Donna Leigh. She thoroughly enjoyed her family and being a homemaker.

Survivors include her loving husband of 49 years, Philip Neal Gamble, Sr.; son Philip Neal Gamble II of Muscle Shoals; daughter and son-in-law Donna and Tom Dean of Athens, AL; brother Bob Carroll Gobbell of Shell, Wyoming; sister and brother-in-law Betty and Tom Pringle of Maineville, Ohio and her special nieces and nephews Bobby, Nancy, Larry, Kerri and Evan; great nieces and nephews and her many special cousins.

Pallbearers will be Doug Butler, Mack Stanfield, Rex Gobbell, Doug Trousdale, Tommy Stanfield, Scott Butler, Bob Butler and Wayne Putman.

The family would like to express special thanks to ECM and Huntsville Hospitals and to Dr. Ricky Irons.
