Margaret Evelyn Burgess Borden – Obituary

Mrs. Margaret Evelyn Burgess Borden, 90, of Decatur, formerly of Florence, died on October 30, 2015 passed away at River City Center in Decatur, AL. She was a native of Lauderdale County, Alabama where she retired from Florence Utilities after thirty six years of service. She was a life-long member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she prepared communion for forty years. She also worked with Meals on Wheels after retirement.

Visitation for Mrs. Borden will be at Greenview Funeral Home on Sunday, November 01, 2015 from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. in Greenview Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Dwayne McDuff officiating. Burial will follow in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Borden was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Borden; parents, Bob and Maude Burgess; sisters, Lola Green,

Clara Tucker and Ruth Hester; brothers, Clayton, Villard and R. H. Burgess, Jr.

Survivors include her daughter, Judy Burgess Witt (Jeron); grandchildren, Holly Vest(Jon), Todd Witt, Joseph “Jody” Witt(Laurie); great-grandchildren, Abby Vest, Ali Vest Smith (Hunter), Ella, Hayden and Stella Witt; great-great grandchild, Ross Smith.

Active pallbearers will be, Robbie Killen, Bobby Cox, Brian Earwood, Mike Green, Jimmy Paul Burgess and Tommy Green.
