Sister Margaret Eloise Thompson was born April 5, 1933 in Florence, Ala. to the late Emory Simpson and Lydia Mae Jones. Sister Thompson confessed her belief in Jesus Christ and was baptized in the fellowship of Greater Saint Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church, where she served faithfully in the Women’s Missionary Society and sang in the Celestial Choir until she was called home from labor to reward.
Visitation with the family will be Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012 at Greater St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church in Florence, Ala.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012 at Greater St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church, Rev. Agnes Lover officiating. Burial to follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Florence.
The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m.
Sister Thompson was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-five years, Brother George Thompson, Jr.
On November 30, 2012 she departed this life at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital, and welcomed the tender call of Jesus to come home. Many will remember her gentle ways, but those who will be deprived most profoundly of her love, home cooking and beautiful memories are her daughter Linda K. Lee of Dayton, Ohio; a son, Donald R. Thompson (Maxine Summerhill) of Syracuse, N.Y.; four grandchildren, Darrel T. Lee of Dayton, Ohio; Samantha F. Lee of Los Angeles, Calif., Kimberly N. Thompson of N. Plainfield, N.J. and Kristin B. Thompson of Syracuse, N.Y.; a great granddaughter, Jasmine Vella-Lee of Dayton, Ohio; extended family; church family and friends.
