On Saturday, March 29, 2014, Marcia Lynne Wagoner passed from this life into her eternal life in the presence of Jesus Christ. There to welcome her were her parents Paul and Carmen Nell Thorne Wagoner, Grandparents Lester and Vestal Thorne and John G. and Ethel Briscoe. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 1 at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia, from 10:00 until 11:00 with the service at 11:00 in the chapel, Chad Holder officiating. Burial will be in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens, Florence. Being a long time member of First Baptist Church Sheffield, those wishing to honor Marcia may do so by making donations to the Annie Armstrong Mission Fund, First Baptist Church, 301 N. Atlanta Avenue, Sheffield, AL 35660.
Marcia was born April 24, 1941, in Doniphan, Missouri and lived her formative years in Vancouver, Washington and Tulsa, Oklahoma. She attended Oklahoma Baptist University, the University of Tulsa as well as the University of North Alabama. She worked with Buckner Orphanage in Dallas, Texas before moving to Sheffield in 1969. She and her Dad operated Sutz-U-Grocery and after its closing, she worked with American Wholesale Book Company.
While living in Sheffield, Marcia enjoyed Eastern Star, singing with the Sweet Adelines, bowling and playing golf. She was especially proud of the citation she received from St. Andrews congratulating her on a hole in one at Blackberry Golf Trail.
Marcia is survived by her aunt Doris Thorne Clemmons, Fort Walton, FL, and cousins David Clemmons, Fort Walton, Connie Baskette of Knoxville, TN and Glenda Barry, Paragould, AR.
