In Loving Memory of Marcia Austin Echols

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Marcia Austin Echols, a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend. Marcia lost her ongoing battle with pulmonary fibrosis and left this world on Sunday, June 18th, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and countless cherished memories.

Born on August 29th 1942, Marcia grew up in Springfield, TN and was a remarkable individual whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was a beacon of kindness and warmth, always ready with a smile to brighten anyone’s day. Marcia had a gentle and nurturing soul, offering unwavering support and guidance to those around her.

Family was the cornerstone of Marcia’s life. She was a devoted wife to her loving husband, Judge Robert Lynn Echols, sharing a deep bond and a lifetime of cherished moments together. Marcia’s children, Susan Echols, Robert Lynn Echols Jr., and John Austin Echols, were her pride and joy. She poured her heart and soul into their upbringing, instilling in them the values of love, kindness, and perseverance.

Marcia attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville where she shined as a majorette in the Pride of the Southland Band. She also served on the Board of Trustees and The President’s Council for the University.

Marcia possessed a remarkable intellect and pursued a successful career in her family’s cemetery business. She served as President of both the Cemetery Association of Tennessee in 1993-1994 and the Southern Cemetery, Cremation, and Funeral Association in 1998-1999. Her dedication and commitment to her work were unparalleled, earning her the admiration and respect of her colleagues.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Marcia had a profound impact on her community. She dedicated her time and energy to numerous charitable causes, always lending a helping hand to those in need.

Marcia attended Christ Presbyterian Church in Nashville and was active in her church community. She cherished her women’s bible study group and was actively communicating with them until her death.

Marcia Austin Echols will forever be remembered as a beacon of love, compassion, and strength. Her unwavering spirit will continue to guide and inspire us all. Though she may no longer walk beside us, her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched.

Marcia is survived by her devoted husband, Judge Robert Lynn Echols; her beloved children, Susan Echols, Robert Echols Jr. and his wife Christy Couch Echols, and John Austin Echols; her grandchildren, Bert Echols, Anna Echols, and Mayme Echols; and a multitude of family members and friends who will forever hold her dear.

We will miss Marcia dearly, but we find solace in knowing that she is now at peace, forever watching over us from heaven.

With silent gratitude, we remember a life well-lived and a heart deeply loved.

The family will hold a private graveside service this week and a memorial service in her honor on Tuesday, July 11th at 2:00pm at Christ Presbyterian Church.
