Mrs. Marcelle Shelton Edwards, age 88, of Scottsboro passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2018.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday December 13, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Agape Baptist Church with Dr. Roger Mardis and Dr. Robert Gamble officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until time of service. There will be no formal graveside service.
Mrs. Edwards is survived by her son and daughter in law, Dale and Nancy Edwards; grandchildren, Wade Edwards and Mary Haden Edwards Ayers, and great grandson, Coleman Ayers. Additionally, by a special friend, Mr. Bill Arnold and many nieces and nephews, along with numerous friends and relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Embril O. Edwards; parents, H.M. (Doc) and Hattie Shelton; and several brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Edwards was a long time educator with the Jackson County School System working over thirty years as a teacher and supervisor throughout the county. Additionally, she served one term on the Scottsboro Board of Education.
Mrs. Edwards was actively involved with Agape Baptist Church and many other organizations in Scottsboro and Jackson County. She was especially active with the Jackson County Alabama Alumni chapter, serving as a member of the executive committee.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Agape Baptist Church Building Fund or The Jackson County Alabama Alumni Chapter.
