MORGAN COUNTY-On Friday, January 30, 2015 Morgan County Sheriffs Office received a call from 911 about a possible kidnapping. Here is how Sheriff Ana Franklin describe the events:
“Deputies and investigators from the Morgan County Sheriff’s office responded to a 911 call this morning that led to a Marshall County man being arrested and charged with kidnapping, felony assault and violation of protection from abuse order.
Sheriff’s dispatchers received a 911 call at approximately 08:49 this morning. The caller, a female, reported that an estranged boyfriend had entered her home, displayed a knife, attempted to tie her up, physically assaulted her and threatened her life. Patrol deputies and EMS responded. Deputies searched the residence and surrounding area for the suspect. Investigators were also notified and responded to the scene.
Investigators were familiar with the suspect , identified as Colby Dwight Birdsong, 24, of Marshall County. A warrant for the arrest of Birdsong was obtained on a charge of burglary in the first degree, and Marshall County authorities were notified to be on the look out for Birdsong.
Birdsong was spotted at the Walmart in Arab and taken into custody.
Birdsong is in the Morgan County Jail. He has been charged with burglary in the first degree, kidnapping in the first degree, domestic violence by strangulation or suffocation, and violation of a protection from abuse order. he is bein held in lieu of $350,000 bond.
