FLORENCE-The Florence Police issued a statement on the arrest of a man in the “Shots Fired” incident on Monday, July 26:

“Braxton B. Minor, 26, of Florence was arrested last night, July 3 and charged with Attempted Assault 1st.

The case stems from a shots fired call on 6/26/17 in the area of Martin Street in North Florence. At 11am on the 26th, officers responded to multiple reports of gun fire in the area.

Upon arrival officers located multiple shell casings on Martin Street and in the surrounding area. Witnesses provided details of the events and a description of the suspect. In addition, the suspect was captured on video fleeing the area. Detectives responded and gathered statements from witnesses and collected evidence.

The investigation found that the victim in this case had encountered Minor and a female at a business near the intersection of Florence Blvd. and Patton Street. According to the victim, who didn’t know the suspect, Minor presented a firearm and shot at the victim while driving along the roadway on Darby Drive.

Minor is accused of following the victim to a residence in the 400 block of Martin Street and exchanging gunfire at the residence.

We are fortunate in this case that no innocent people were struck by stray bullets. Several homes and a vehicle were struck during the shooting.

Minor was arrested without incident by detectives at a local motel.

Additional charges will be presented to a Lauderdale County Grand Jury in this case. Minor was released from custody after posting bail in amount of $5,000.00.”
