Jewel Posey was born September 22, 1924, in Colbert County where she lived all her life. She was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church, Tuscumbia, and a member of the Love Sunday School Class, where she faithfully attended and loved her church family. She was also a member of the Tuscumbia Chapter of the Eastern Star for 62 years and of the Alabama chapter of the Telephone Pioneers of America.
On December 12, 1947, Jewel married the love of her life, Clifford Posey with whom she spent joyful times with the Posey Quartets and attending gospel singings. She was preceded in death by her husband Clifford, her parents, Oscar and Lula James, sister and best friend, Maedrew Monroe, brother Olean James, Granddaughter, Angela Joy Posey, and grandson, Willie T. Williams Posey.
She is survived by son, Philip Posey and wife, Kathy, daughter, Regina Conley and Husband, Milas, eight grandchildren: Cynthia Holland and husband, Sean, Richard Franks, Phil Posey, Jr. and wife, Laura, Andrew Posey, Katherine Posey, John Posey, Matthew Posey, and Timothy Posey, eight great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, several nieces and nephews, and her caregiver and special friend, Pam Jackson.
Jewel was an extraordinary woman who was a goodhearted and unselfish individual, giving first to her church and to many charities. Through the years, she loved traveling with her husband and friends. After retiring with 33 years of service from South Central Bell, she enjoyed visiting and cooking for her friends in need as long as she was able. Her many friends are too numerous to mention but each held a special place in her life. She enjoyed playing dominoes with friends, family, and special niece, Sylvia Hamlin and husband, Gordon. She was dearly loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed.
