Mallie Stewart Akers was born on April 30, 1933, in Florence, Ala., and passed away on Aug. 8, 2013, in Pensacola, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Gomer Stewart; mother, Emenola Sharp Stewart; and husband, Edward Braden Akers.
Mrs. Akers is survived by her children, Robert Akers (Karen), Ellen Woodfin (Steve), Peggy Brown and Teresa Foret (Dwight). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Ashley Akers, Christopher and James Woodfin, Cody and Sarah Brown, and Eddie, Perileigh and Macon Champagne. She also had three great-grandchildren, Gage and Olivia Champagne and Riley Evans-Champagne.
She was buried Monday, Aug. 12, at Barrancas National Cemetery, NAS Pensacola, Fla.
Waters & Hibbert Funeral Home, Pensacola, Fla., was entrusted with arrangements.
