FLORENCE– Mayor Steve Holt and City Engineer Bill Batson are pleased to notify the public that work on Mall Road will begin the week of April 8. Signs will be placed on the roadway next week to designate the construction area. Mayor Holt said the following regarding the Mall Road Re-surfacing Project, “This is an important part of our street development for the year and includes a traffic light at the intersection of Mall Road and Hough Road. It should greatly improve safety and traffic flow. We are proud and excited to get the project going.”
Mall Road will be paved in four phases. Crews will complete one phase before beginning another to allow for detoured traffic. Businesses will be open during construction. Signs will be placed to detour traffic. The contractor will need three consecutive dry days to make progress on paving. Depending upon weather conditions throughout the project, the completion time for each phase is as follows: two weeks for the first phase, one week for the second phase, one day for the third phase, and two weeks for the fourth phase.
The sections include:
- Mall Road from Florence Boulevard to Cloyd Boulevard
- Mall Road from Cloyd Boulevard to N. Mall Court
- Mall Road from N. Mall Court to Cox Creek Parkway
- Hough Road from Mall Road to Cox Creek Parkway
