Malissa "Missey" Michael DeGroff Malissa “Missey” Michael DeGroff, 54, of East Limestone, passed away Thursday.
She was preceded in death by her mom, Betty Winkles, brother Joey Michael and sister-in-law, Anita Kimbrough.
Surviving are her husband, Russell DeGroff, sons, Ryan DeGroff and Jason DeGroff, her father, Donnie Michael (Ann), sister, Chrissey Croft (Matt), step-brothers, Eric Kimbrough and Alan Kimbrough (Billie), step-sister, Shanna Springer, mother-in-law, Joann DeGroff, sister-in-laws Ginger Corder (Ken) and Robin Price and several nieces and nephews.
Missey grew up in Grant, Alabama and graduated from Kate Duncan DAR High School. She graduated from Athens University with a BS degree in Accounting. She worked in several areas of the accounting business from Financial Analyst/Accountant to Controller. She served the last several years as a Realtor and enjoyed helping families find the perfect home.
Missey and Russ met in the summer of 1980 and married in 1985. They added to their family with two wonderful boys and spent a lot of their time cheering them on at their baseball, football, basketball and soccer games. Missey loved reading, canning fruits and vegetables, and relaxing at the beach. She was an avid Alabama football fan.
Visitation will be Tuesday, 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at New Hope Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at Hampton Cove Cemetery at 2:30 pm with Rev. Harold Kelly and Rev. Michael Carpenter officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society.
