Funeral Services for Malik Caden Phillips, age 9 of Lineville, will be held on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville at 11:00 A.M. with Bro. Lee Heath officiating. Burial will follow at Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery.

Malik passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2023 at his home after a long battle with Short Gut Syndrome. He was born in Birmingham along with his twin sister, and a lifelong resident of Clay County. Malik was a mischievous and happy little boy, who always was laughing, smiling, and pulling pranks on his family. He enjoyed watching Chip N Dale, listening to Music in his rocking chair, and running around and playing with his brother and sister and friends.

Malik is survived by his parents: Michael Phillips Jr. and Tiffany Hicks, both of Lineville; his twin sister, Maliyah Phillips; younger brother, Micah Phillips; His grandparents: Shirley Trammel of Roanoke and Michael Phillips Sr. of LaGrange, GA, Jan Baker of Lineville and step-grandmother, Mary Easterwood of Alexander City; his great-grandmothers: Betty Foster and Audrey Phillips, both of Roanoke; plus several Aunts, Uncles, and a large extended family.

Active Pallbearers will be Michael Phillips Jr, Tanarious Rowland, K.D. Lee, Lutravion Trammell, Zi’Navious Turner, and DaAaron Hollenquest.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Dijon Tucker, Jared Hunter Jr, and Brent Easterwood.

His visitation will take place on Monday, August 28, 2023 at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. The family requests no flowers; instead, the family would prefer donations towards his funeral expenses. Donations can be brought to Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville.
