Brother Malcolm Thomas King, 89, of Tuscumbia passed from this life on February 27, 2014. The Visitation will be Friday, February 28, 2014, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. His funeral service will be held Saturday, March 1, 2014, at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, Tuscumbia at 11:00 am with Bro. Roger Bond and Bro. Keith Prince officiating. He will lie in state one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in the adjoining church cemetery with military honors.
Bro. Malcolm leaves his wife of 69 years: Jessie Mae (Winter) King, five sons, Wayne (Barbara), Harold (Carol), David (Carolyn), Danny (Diane), Dalton (Chastity), and one daughter Connie Scogin (Jackie). He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren, and one brother Milton Paul King of Peoria, III.
Bro. King was the second of eight children, born to Paul and Leona King. He was also preceded in death by brothers Hershel, Wade, Curtis and Gilbert King and sisters, Jean Moody and Ramona King.
He served as pastor to 12 different Baptist churches, the last was Victory Baptist of Muscle Shoals for 30 years. At the close of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy as a deep sea diver. After his time in the military, he learned the craft of heavy equipment mechanic and welder and was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 320 of Florence.
Pall Bearers will be Wesley King, Darryl King, Mack King, Jonathan Scogin , Jordan Scogin, Jacob King, Logan King, and Gavin King.
