FLORENCE – Now that the final approval from the State is in their hands, RegionalCare Hospital Partners is wasting no time in moving forward. Their first order of business this week was to move the 102-year-old Maud Lindsay Free Kindergarten building from the hospital site to its new home a few blocks away in East Florence.

Moving crews, hampered by rain, sharp curves along narrow streets, and overhead utilities took a bit longer than most people expected to move the building, but finally the job was completed Wednesday afternoon. Incidentally, the company that moved the building is the same one that moved it back in the 80’s from it’s original location a short distance away from Cole Street. Crews were out this morning preparing the new site on Enterprise Street where the structure will be lowered onto a new footing once the foundation is finished.

The Quad-Cities Daily has been out at the site during the moving process to capture the move in photos. We present them here.
