Maggie Lou Willingham Maggie Lou (Arnold) Willingham passed away peacefully at home in Gulf Shores, Alabama on
May 18, 2025.

Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Maggie’s vibrant spirit and infectious love for life left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

Maggie began her career as a telephone operator, a role that thrived on her ability to connect people at a time when personal communication required a human touch. Her work ethic and charming personality made her a favorite among her colleagues and the many individuals she helped connect, including her future husband, Freddie.

Her passion for life extended well beyond her career. Maggie was a cosmologist and an avid artist, particularly talented in oil painting. She could often be found shopping for hours, searching for the perfect piece to complement her next adventure, it has been said that her second home was a shopping mall, she was never happier than when purchasing that perfect outfit or two. Maggie was also a prominent figure in the Red Hatters of Gulf Shores, where she was affectionately known as the “queen mother,” a testament to her social prowess and leadership.

Maggie’s family was her pride and joy. She is survived by her son, Fred Willingham (Cheryl), and daughter, Pam Hanson (Brian). Her grandchildren, Casey Hanson and Corinne Robertson, along with several great-grandchildren, will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Freddie Willingham, their son Kenneth, daughter-in-law Cheryl Willingham, brother Bobby, sister
Peggy and stepbrother Charles.

A family service is planned for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Oak Grove Cemetery for a graveside service in Alabama to celebrate her life and legacy. Maggie’s love for life and her dedication to her family and friends will be cherished and remembered by all who knew her.
