Mrs. Maenell King, age 94, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, in Lexington.
She was born on January 8, 1932, in Reagan to the late John W. and Vestie Harrell Middleton. On June 24, 1950, she married Pearl A. “Junior” King, Jr., and together they made their home in the Rocky Knob community of McNairy County. Maenell was a devoted homemaker and wife who dedicated her life to caring for her home and family.
Maenell gave her life to the Lord on October 3, 1950, and was baptized in the river at Saltillo on October 15, 1950. She was a faithful member of Union Hill Baptist Church and treasured her relationship with the Lord throughout her life.
Maenell had a love for music. She enjoyed playing the guitar and singing, and she used her gifts to bring joy to those around her. She was also known for her generous and caring spirit, always willing to help anyone in need. Following the passing of her husband, she later returned to her homeplace in Reagan to be closer to her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Pearl A. “Junior” King, Jr.; and seven siblings, Robert Lee Middleton, Beulah May Scott, Arlie Wright Middleton, Delta Fields, Harvey Middleton, Johnie Harmon, and Betty Sue Beecham.
Maenell leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, as well as many great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, and great-great-nephews, who will cherish her memory and the love she shared with them.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2026, in the chapel of Pafford Funeral Home in Scotts Hill, with interment to follow in Barren Springs Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Pafford Funeral Home in Scotts Hill.
Maenell will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her love of music, her kindness to others, and the many lives she touched throughout her 94 years.
