Mrs. Mae Thrash, the daughter of the late James Elmo Boozer and Lillian Boozer, was born on August 11, 1945, in Demopolis.
She is survived by her husband, Arthur Franklin Thrash, to whom she was joined in matrimony on December 23, 1962. Their union was blessed with three children, and five grandchildren, who all knew her as Memaw.
In 1970 the Thrashes moved to Decatur. Mrs. Thrash was an active participant in the Decatur Art Guild and Alabama Jubilee planning committees over the course of her life. She enjoyed contributing her artistic abilities to help design the event t-shirts.
The Thrashes relocated to a small farm in Moulton in 2011. This is where Mrs. Thrash lived out the last of her years, enjoying her flowers, gardens, and most of all, the chickens. She was devoted to Christ and a proud member of Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church in Moulton. She loved singing hymns with her church family on Sunday mornings.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of her children, Kenneth Steven Thrash, Lisa Thrash (David) Riley, and Traci Thrash (Weber) Marett, as well as her grandchildren, Adam Christopher (Sarah) Riley, Rachael Riley (Nathan) White, Brittany Renee Riley and Ella Grace Marett; sister, Irene Boozer (Richard) Plunk and brother, Frank Boozer. She was preceded in death by granddaughter, Iris Gillian Marett and brother, James Boozer.
A memorial service is planned for 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2018, at Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church, 12594 Co. Rd. 236, Moulton, AL 35650. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the American Diabetes Association or Carson Sarcoma Foundation.
