Mrs. Mae Laturive Lovett Jones, age 94 of Nauvoo, passed away peacefully with family by her side on July 4, 2025 after a long illness. She was born June 8, 1931 in Winston Co. to the late Elzie and Ottie Mae Lovett. Mae had many roles in her life and went by many names but most knew her as Laturive. She had a great love for her family, her pets, and gardening. If you ever traveled Hwy 195, you likely saw her working in her garden. Many knew they could stop by and Laturive would load them up with the fruits of her labor. While standing in her yard, you could see a large variety of plants, flowers, and trees with stone fountains and garden statues all around that looked like chaos to most but it was a beautiful site if you were one of the lucky ones to know how much it meant to her. She was always so proud to tell you about them and even send you home with a piece of one for you to try and grow. Laturive would welcome anyone into her home and always had a meal ready just in case. She was the hardest working and strongest woman most of us have known. Her legacy and the memories we created with her will forever be cherished. Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 p.m. at Nichols Funeral Home in Double Springs, where the service will begin at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Poplar Springs Cemetery. Brother Mickey Millican will officiate. Mae was preceded in death by her parents, Elzie and Ottie Mae Lovett; her husband, Albert Q. Jones; one son, Gregory R. Hendrix; her brothers, William Lovett, George Lovett; her sisters Cleo Middleton and Maxine Davenport. She is survived and missed by her children Steve (Mary) Hendrix, Rita (Terry) Tidwell, Brenda (Paul) Pennington, and Tim (Cheryl) Hendrix. Forever cherished and remembered by her grandchildren, Michael, Sherry, Danny, Brandy, Amy, Jamie and their families, nine great-grandchildren, and one great- great- grandchild; and her brother James Oneal Lovett (Carolyn).
