Below are some safety tips that may assist in reducing your likelihood of being a victim:

• Be aware of your surroundings while pumping gas, using ATMs, DVD rental machines, etc.
• If practical, shut off your vehicle and remove the keys when exiting the vehicle.
• When exiting your vehicle, take your cell phone with you.
• If you see a stranger approaching you while you are stopped in your vehicle, remain in the vehicle and lock your doors.
• If your vehicle is stolen or someone attempts to steal it in your presence, remain calm, do not try to chase the suspect or your vehicle on foot, and call 911 immediately.”
