MADISON COUNTY— The Madison County Sheriff’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force assisted the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the U.S. Army Criminal Investigations Division (CID) in an investigation involving the possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
This case was initiated following multiple CyberTips received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children

(NCMEC). Working with federal partners, investigators identified John Spencer Murphy, 65, as a suspect. Murphy has been charged by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office with four counts of possession of child pornography.
“This case demonstrates the importance of strong partnerships between local, federal, and national organizations in protecting children from exploitation,” said Sheriff Kevin Turner. “Our office will continue to work tirelessly to ensure those responsible are held accountable.”
The investigation remains active, and additional charges or developments are possible.
