HUNTSVILLE—On January 28, 2025, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office responded to an eviction notice at an apartment in the 300 block of Old Gurley Road in Huntsville. disarray, with the children left unattended. The premises exhibited signs of extreme prolonged neglect, including feces on the walls and an excessive accumulation of garbage. The children were subsequently taken into custody by the Department of Human Resources (DHR) and were transported to Huntsville Hospital for medical evaluation.
Following a thorough investigation, Sheriff’s detectives identified the children’s mother, Tanea Angel Mills, aged 24, as the individual responsible for this neglect. Consequently, Ms. Mills was arrested and charged with two counts of Torture/Willful Abuse of a Child. Her bond is currently set at $10,000.
The Madison County Sheriff’s Office is collaborating closely with the Department of Human Resources to ensure the children receive the appropriate care and support required for their well-being.
Sheriff Kevin Turner remarked, “We approach cases of child neglect with the utmost seriousness, and I will utilize all available resources to ensure the safety and welfare of children in our community.”
