Madison County Sheriff’s Office Arrest One Suspect In Child Neglect Case

HUNTSVILLE—On January 28, 2025, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office responded to an eviction notice at an apartment in the 300 block of Old Gurley Road in Huntsville. Upon arrival, deputies discovered two young children, aged 1 and 2, living in a severely neglected environment. The conditions within the apartment revealed dire

disarray, with the children left unattended. The premises exhibited signs of extreme prolonged neglect, including feces on the walls and an excessive accumulation of garbage. The children were subsequently taken into custody by the Department of Human Resources (DHR) and were transported to Huntsville Hospital for medical evaluation.

Following a thorough investigation, Sheriff’s detectives identified the children’s mother, Tanea Angel Mills, aged 24, as the individual responsible for this neglect. Consequently, Ms. Mills was arrested and charged with two counts of Torture/Willful Abuse of a Child. Her bond is currently set at $10,000.

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office is collaborating closely with the Department of Human Resources to ensure the children receive the appropriate care and support required for their well-being.
