Madison County Sheriff Arrest Suspect; Charged With Robbery 1st Degree

MADISON COUNTY-The Madison County Sheriff’s Department issued a statement concerning the arrest of a suspect who has been charged with Robbery 1st Degree:
“On December 24, 2023, an unidentified male suspect entered M & M Grocery located at 323 Butler Road and proceeded to rob the store clerk at gunpoint.
The Sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit conducted a thorough investigation and, through diligent efforts, obtained crucial information that led to the arrest of the suspect on December 27, 2023. During the arrest, detectives found an air pistol, which the offender had used during the robbery.
The suspect, identified as Harley Smith, a 20-year-old male, was charged with Robbery 1st and subsequently booked into the Madison County Jail Facility.
It is noteworthy that the offender is being held without bond, as per Aniah’s Law, which enables the state to hold defendants without bail when charged with certain serious offenses.”
