Mack Romine, Sr – Obituary

mackMack Romine, Sr, age 93, of Florence died Wednesday, December 7, 2016, at his residence. He was born June 25, 1923 in Florence Al.

 

Visitation will be Saturday, December 10, 201612-2 PM at Elkins Funeral Home.  Funeral services will follow at 2 PM in the chapel with Carl Gephardt officiating.  Burial will be at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.

 

Mack was a WWll US Navy veteran who spent two years in the South Pacific. Anyone that ever met him was given the gift of tall tales of places near and far.  He was an avid historian who loved to share his knowledge. He was among those privileged to take the Honor Flight to visit the WWll Memorial in Washington DC.

Mack taught each of his children how to pan and prospect for gold. Road trips were his specialty, covering everything between Bangor Maine to Mexico City, Mexico and all points in between.

He was a 65 year member of IBEW #558 retiring from Reynolds Metals Company after 30 years of service. He was a former Civil Service Board Member.

 

Mr. Romine is survived by his daughter, Susan Goode (Marty Abroms); two sons, Mack Romine, Jr. (Linda) and James K. Romine (Pam); six grandchildren, Lore Robb (Heath), Beth McKee (Justin), Andrew T. Romine (Keli), April M. Clark (David), Dr. Russell Goode (Sarah), and Valerie Jones (Brandon), twelve great-grandchildren, Ayla Robb, Evyn Robb, Abby McKee, Silas McKee, Kylie McKee, Hunter Romine, Jayce Romine, Rylan Romine, Darby Clark, Jesse Clark, Caden Jones, and Scarlett Goode, and special friend Rayvella Romine.

 

Pallbearers will be David Clark, Heath Robb, Justin McKee, Brandon Jones, Luke Abroms, and Dr. Russell Goode.  Honorary pallbearers will be Andrew Todd Romine and Donald DeLoach.
