Mable Virginia Thornton Sevier – Obituary

Mable Virginia Thornton Sevier was born on May 13 1921, the daughter of Chester and Ethel Austin Seiver.

She was married to Cluster Marshall Sevier, Sr. in 1945, who preceded her in death on January 10, 1988. Mable worked for the Cherry Truck Stop in Savannah as a cook. She later worked for Dr. and Mrs. John Lay as their housekeeper, cook and nanny. Mable loved to cook cross-stitch and quilt. She also loved to work in her flower garden.

Mable departed this life on August 26, 2012 at the age of 91 years, 3 months and 13 days.

She is survived by three daughters, Janice Taylor of Jackson, Tennessee, Mary Latimer Carter of Baltimore, Maryland, and VaRand Seiver Pride of Savannah, Tennessee, one son, Graylon Sevier of Smyrna, Tennessee, a sister, Wilma Bumpus of Savannah, Tennessee, seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Her half-sister, Clorene Slay, three sisters, Rosie White, Myrtle Winters, and Annie Hamilton, three brothers, Robert Thornton, Vernon Bus Thornton and Gus Frank Thornton, all preceded her in death.
