Mable Elease Killen, age 79, better known as “Granny”, of Jacksonville, Al., formerly of Chattanooga, Tn. died Saturday January 3, 2015.Visitation will be Tuesday, January 6, 2015 from 9:30 to 11:00 A.M. with services to begin at 11:00 A.M. at Colbert Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Colbert Memorial Gardens. Dr. William Owens is officiating .Colbert Memorial Chapel is assisting the family.
Mrs. Killen was preceded in death by her husband; Paul Glenn Killen, sister; Gertrude Posey, brothers; Jack, Willie and Marty Posey.
Survivors are son; Mike Killen (Tammy), grandchildren; Paul Killen II (Megan), Emily Killen. Sister; Camilla Willett (Charles), and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
Mable was currently a member of Jacksonville First Baptist Church where she enjoyed the Grace Sunday School class. She previously was a longtime member of Ridgedale Baptist Church, Chattanooga, where she was a care leader of the Grace Sunday School Class. She enjoyed walking, cups of coffee at Panera and spending time with her grandchildren Emily and Paul.
She had a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Alabama and taught business education at Allen Thornton Area Vocational School for over twenty years.
