Heaven gained one of its kindest and gentlest souls on June 18, 2018, when Mabeth Leigh Jones, 89, made her entrance. A resident of Muscle Shoals, she was a beloved teacher of countless middle and high school students and taught Sunday school most of her life. Her devotion to God and her family was evident in everything she did. She told vivid stories of her childhood and was a talented writer who loved bluegrass music, traveling, and big Christmas celebrations.
Mrs. Jones is preceded in death by her parents, W.R. and Anna Doss. She is survived by her husband, Elvis Jones of Muscle Shoals; daughters, Kathy Yarbrough Brazelton (Joe) and Janet Yarbrough Kirk of Muscle Shoals; son, Ricky Jones (Laura) of Lexington; grandchildren, Amy Little, Anna Beth Rose, William Kirk, Taylor Jones and Lauren Brewer; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today, June 20, 2018 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Spry-Williams Funeral Home of Florence, with the funeral service at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Matthew Rose officiating. Burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens in Tuscumbia.
