Lynn Harold Townsend was born in Lexington, TN on May 4, 1950 and died on May 26, 2022 in Chattanooga, TN.
Lynn was the oldest of three boys born to Lyman and Wilma Threadgill Townsend. He graduated from Lexington High School in 1968 and attended Jackson State Community College. Lynn was a life-long member of the First United Methodist Church in Lexington.
Lynn began at a very young age working for his family’s business, Townsend Plumbing/Electric/Heat/Air. He was a third generation owner of this business that was started by his grandfather, Dorsey, in 1925. Lynn could fix anything that he set his mind to do – and never used instructions. He was very active in his sons’ lives, such as helping coach baseball teams, taking them to car races, and working on old cars. Up until the last few years, Lynn enjoyed traveling, riding his Harley motorcycle, boating at the river and lake, and being with his family and friends.
Lynn is survived by his wife of almost 42 years, Elaine Fesmire Townsend and their three sons: Justin (Candy) of Wildersville, TN, Brad of Austin, TX, and Clay (NIchole) of Chattanooga, TN. He also had two granddaughters, Hattie Townsend and Ashley McKenzie, two great-granddaughters, Aubrey and Riley Smith, a brother, David Townsend, and an aunt, Imogene Frye.
Lynn was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Barry Townsend.
