Photo of Lyndon Wayne PoseyLyndon Wayne Posey, known to many as Wayne, passed away on October 15, 2026, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born in Pebble, Alabama on March 11, 1943, and lived a life marked by devotion to the people he loved and to the simple, enduring pleasures that brought him happiness. Wayne loved all things farm life and was a farmer through and through, loving all aspects of the craft but taking special enjoyment and pride in his mules and chickens. There was a deep contentment in the rhythm of that life, and it reflected the kind of man he was—steady, grounded, and appreciative of the work and beauty found in everyday moments. Many days he would spend hours outside enjoying the quiet views and watching the deer graze through his pasture. Above all else, his family was his greatest joy, and the love he gave them will remain one of his most lasting gifts. He is survived by his beloved wife, Janice Posey, his partner in life for 61 years. He also leaves behind his daughter, Lorri Duboise, and her husband, Michael; his granddaughter, Audrey Weaver, and her husband, Hayden; his grandson, Dawson Duboise; his brother, Travis Posey as well as a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended friends and family. In the lives of those who knew him best, Wayne’s presence was a source of strength, warmth, and quiet faithfulness, and his memory will continue to be cherished within the family he held so dear. He was preceded in death by his mother, Alpha Posey; his father, Nelson Posey; his son, David Posey; his brothers, Dallas Posey and Glenn Posey; and his sisters, Gladys Posey James and Clezell Posey Lynn. Wayne’s life will be remembered with gratitude and love. May his family find comfort in the years they shared with him, in the example of his devotion, and in the many memories that will continue to keep his spirit near. Visitation will be Sunday October 18, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Nichols Funeral Home in Haleyville where the service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Brother Steve Miles will officiate. Burial will be at Lynn City Cemetery in Lynn, Alabama. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to the David Posey Memorial Scholarship Fund at Lynn High School.
