Rev. Luther Smith Duckworth, age 98 of Huntsville passed away Monday, Jan. 6, 2020.
He is survived by his wife of 78 years Juanita Walden Duckworth; two sons Joe (Marsha) Duckworth and James (Sharon) Duckworth; five grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Duckworth was born in Winfield, AL, and was a U.S. Army Veteran and a pastor in the Church of God for over 40 years.
Visitation is Thursday, Jan. 9, 2020, 4:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Berryhill Funeral Home, followed by the funeral service at 6:00 p.m. officiated by Pastor Kevin McGlamery. Mr. Duckworth will lie in state at Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church, 5876 AL Highway 18, Fayette, AL 35555, on Friday, Jan. 10, 2020,1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. followed by a Memorial service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Church of God World Mission in Luther Duckworth’s name or your favorite charity.
