Lura “Evelyn”Jones, age 90, a loving mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on May 17, 2025. She was born on February 3, 1935, to the late James Elmer and Nettie Jewel Clifton Sweat.
Evelyn lived her life to the fullest. She was a hard worker, kindhearted and devoted to her family and friends. She enjoyed raising animals, cooking, gardening and canning the food she grew. She was always giving the food to her family and friends and anyone who needed help. Evelyn and Mr. Bobby Jones were married for more than 30 years, and shared their life together in Selmer and Adamsville Tennessee.
Evelyn was of Baptist belief and loved being involved in the church. She had a strong faith in God and was devoted to following his word.
Mrs. Jones is survived by her husband, Bobby Jones; grandchild and great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by two sons, William “Bill” Smith and an infant son; five sisters, Ottie Martin, Ella Mae Martin, Betty Sue Rickman, Tinnie Leona Sweat, Hattie Elizabeth Sweat; four brothers, James Elmer Sweat Jr., J.W. Sweat, Paul David Sweat and an infant brother.
