Luevenia Alexander, 69, of Tishomingo, Mississippi, died October 28, 2016, at St. Jude Medical Center, Fullerton, CA surrounded by family.

Luevenia was born on August 20, 1947, in Tishomingo, Mississippi, the daughter of the late Gertrude and David Southward. She was the tenth child of eleven children. On June 29, 1968, she married her childhood sweetheart, Roy William Alexander of Tishomingo, Mississippi.

Mrs. Alexander worked many years in the clothing and shoe manufacturing industries. She was a member of Carter’s Branch Missionary Baptist Church in the Carter’s Branch community of Tishomingo, MS. She was a Wonderful Wife, Mother, Sister, Aunt, Grandmother and Friend. She was the Heart and Soul of the family. She loved cooking, singing, shopping, listening to music, dancing, working outside in her flower bed, traveling and reading/researching in her medical books. Her beautiful smile and cheerful laugh made everyone feel good inside. Everyone wanted to talk to and get a hug from “Lula”. She just made everyone around her happy.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Roy William Alexander of Tishomingo, MS; daughter and son-in-law, Julia and Robert Williams of Tishomingo, MS; son and daughter-in-law, Rodney Wade and Michelle Alexander of Brea, CA; Granddaughters, Keyana Franklin of Brea, CA and Talia McGaughy of Ridgeland, MS; Great Grandson, Knox Hackett of Brea, CA, sisters, Assilean “Emma”Whitson of Luka, MS, Juanita Benning of Michigan City, IN; brother, KC Earl Southward and his wife Claudette of Michigan City, IN; Many beloved nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews; countless cousins, and friends.

Mrs. Alexander was preceded in death by brothers; Bubba Southward, Willie D. Southward and David Howard Southward, sisters; Daisy Lee Thorne, Rebecca Southward, Martha Benning and Laura Bullock

Visitation will take place Friday, November 4, 2016 at Thompson & Son Funeral Home, Tuscumbia, AL from 6 to 8 p.m. Homegoing Celebration Services will be held Saturday, November 5, 2016, 12 p.m. at Carters Branch Missionary Baptist Church in Tishomingo, MS.
