Falkville lost a very special lady. Anyone who lived in Falkville very long knew her!

She and her husband Jack, and their daughter, Deb, ran the local quick stop/grocery store, McCaig’s Grocery for over 30 years. Prior to that, Jean worked at the Alabama Hosiery Mill in Decatur and in the office at Falkville High School. She was the oldest living member of the Falkville First United Methodist Church and was a cornerstone of the congregation. And yes, she was a graduate of Falkville High School. “Lucy Jean”, as her mother used to call her, was a fun loving, joyful person. She loved God, Family, Church, the beach, the mountains, and the lake!

She was an excellent cook and made the best sour cream pound cake, party mix, and sausage balls. She always enjoyed working in her yard, doing word search puzzles, and card games.

Life want be the same in Falkville because Jean always enjoyed gatherings at her home, eating and singing with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; William Jack McCaig, a son; Stephen Jack McCaig, a brother; William Robert Winkles, and a sister; Polly Holmes.
