Lucy “Dean” Herring, 86, of Moulton, Alabama passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at Decatur Morgan Hospital Decatur, AL. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Friday, August 15, 2025, at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Friday, August 15, 2025, at Lawrence Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Fuller and Charles Williams officiating. Burial will be at Shiloh Cemetery.
Born on March 9, 1939, to Dyke and Ada Oden Smith. Dean was a beloved mother and grandmother who loved her family and church family. She was always on the go and loved traveling.
Survivors include her son, Edward (Helen) Herring; grandchildren, Misty (Brian) Stricklin, Jessica Herring, Hazel Herring, and Brooks (Laura) Slayton; great-grandchildren, Britley Orr, Julieanna Taylor, and Griffin Slayton; brother, Windell (Malisia) England; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Dean was preceded in death by her husband, Norris Herring; parents, Dyke Smith and Ada Smith; daughter, Glenda Slayton; granddaughter, Brandy Phillips; brothers, Willard Smith and Huey Smith; sisters, Eva Smith, Mable Jackson, and Eula Osborn.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
