Lucille Lanier Humphrey Ayers was born on January 13, 1920 in Decatur, Alabama to the late Reverend John and Mrs. Maggie Lanier. She departed this life on Sunday, December 27, 2015, at her home.
Mrs. Ayers was educated in the Morgan County School System. She was certified as a Master Cosmetologists by the Alabama Board of Cosmetology.
Mrs. Ayers accepted the Lord as her Savior at an early age and was a member of the Garners Memorial Church, Decatur, Alabama. She was a talented soloist. After moving to Huntsville, she joined the Union Hill Primitive Baptist Church on October 18, 1992.
Mrs. Ayers moved to Huntsville in 1978 and was a Master Cosmetologist at the Masters and Artistic Rising, two very prominent beauty salons in Huntsville. She was very skilled in all types of hair. Her hobbies included sewing, cooking and raising her three babies.
She always gave God the glory for all she accomplished in her moments in time and was very grateful for his bountiful blessings He so generously bestowed upon her and her family.
Mrs. Ayers was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Hansome Ayers; daughters, Brenda Humphrey Nnadi and Marcia Lynn Humphrey; sisters, Annie Lanier Hanford, Mildred Lanier and Emma Lanier; great-grandson, Jaylen Nnadi; and a great-uncle and aunt, Dr. Walter and Mrs. Irma Hollins; and great- uncle, Shedrick Stephens.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her beloved daughter and caregiver, Beverly K. Humphrey, Huntsville, AL, who loved her dearly; granddaughter, Giovanna Price Allison, McDonough, GA; grandson, Geocobi (Porscha) Nnadi; great-grandchildren, Gyan (Marques) Gibson, Gemia Brena, Giselle Brie and Gweynth Briele, all of McDonough, GA; great great-grandson, Braylen Nnadi, Athens, AL; and other relatives and dear friends.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m., Monday, January 4, 2016, at the Union Hill Primitive Baptist Church (2115 Winchester Road, Huntsville, AL 35810) with Dr. Oscar L. Montgomery, Sr., officiating. Interment will be in Brandontown Cemetery. Mrs. Ayers will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Saturday, January 2, 2016, at the Royal Chapel of Memories.
Public Viewing will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Saturday, January 2, 2016, from 8:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., Sunday, January 3, 2016, and from 8:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 4, 2016, at the Royal Funeral Home.
