Mrs. Lucille K. Abernathy, 85, of Leighton, died Sunday, June 9, 2013, at her residence. Public viewing will be Thursday, June 13, 2013, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Trinity Memorial Funeral Home, Muscle Shoals. Visitation with the family will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 13, 2013, at Trinity Memorial Funeral Home. The funeral service will be noon Friday, June 14, 2013, at St. James Missionary Baptist Church in Leighton. Mrs. Abernathy will lie in repose one hour before the funeral service. Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Abernathy Sr.; two grandsons, Tarrant and Joel Abernathy. She leaves to cherish her fond memories three daughters, Mary (Servon) Gilbert, Lucy Rucker and Christel Wilson; five sons, Walter Abernathy, George (Reba) Abernathy, Donald (Shelia) Abernathy and Leo (Vickie) Abernathy Jr.; two daughters-in-law, Sigglees Abernathy and Vivian Mullins; one godson, David Ray Houston; 22 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.
