Lucille Barber, 91, known as “Granny” to her loved ones, passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born July 8, 1925, in St. Clair, Alabama, to the late Donna Hale Welch and John Hale. She was a retired factory worker, and she enjoyed reading, sewing, and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Christian Church. She was loved very much by her family and friends, and she will be missed.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, September 23, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Mantachie with the Rev. Calvin Warren officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
Survivors include her children, Gerald Harville (Faye), Linda Bartlett (Joe), Sandra Farrell (Greg), and Donna Jane Gregory (George); her step-daughter, Judy Herring (Carroll); her sister, Billie Barnett; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; many friends, nieces, and nephews; and her roommate at Golden Living Center, Vernedia Robinson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rex Lee Barber; her sister, Betty Jean Boyd; and her granddaughter, Cheri Bala.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Harville, Reece Cole, Chris Gregory, Billy Joe Bartlett, Devon Bartlett, Dylan Bartlett, Shane Hylton, and Eric Minor.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Gregory, Leonard Machusak, Aiden Cole, Cass Heatherly, Diesel Bartlett, Ken Garrett Umfress, Spencer Bratton, A.J. Bratton, and Christopher Lewis.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, September 22, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home in Mantachie.
