Lucile Archer Martini was born in Moorewood Oklahoma on January 16, 1924 to Calvin and Olive Archer. She went home to be with the Lord on May 25th, 2014. She is survived by daughter, Susan Scott (Rick); grandchildren Ashley and Jordan Scott; Bridget and Blair Martini and Brooke Barrowcliff. Great grandson, Trevor.
She was the ninth of 10 children. In her young life she lived on a farm in rural Oklahoma. Later she came West, worked in the shipyards during the war and attended Lewis and Clark College in beautiful Portland Oregon. There she met and married the love of her life and partner, Harry. Together, they raised his two children, Marc and Susan. She was a middle school teacher in Oregon. For their next chapter they headed south to warmer lands and created beautiful homes in southern California, Louisiana, Florida and Alabama.
She was affectionately known far and wide as Miss Lucy. Antique shop owners from Alabama, Tennessee and Florida would greet her lovingly as she walked in the door. Congregations in China and Africa knew the name of the prayer warrior, Miss Lucy, too.
Throughout her life she was active in the Lord’s work. In her younger years Miss Lucy was a missionary in Cuba…being one of the last to leave that country before it fell. Miss Lucy was an ordained minister of the gospel-a teacher or God’s Word par excellent. Her teaching and ministry has effected lives all over the world. Many came by to be ministered to in her home services in the Upper Room. Some came by to receive a touch of the anointing. Some, who never saw her radiant face, were blessed because of her dedicated prayer life. She loved unconditionally and was never a judge.
She loved to shop, dress, decorate and accessorize as anyone who knew her well would attest. She was independent and a business woman to the end. In the last years of her life she maintained her own booth at Hartlex, a Madison antique shop.
She was preceded in death by her husband and son. Funeral services for Mrs. Martini will be Wednesday May 28th at 4PM at the Chapel at Belle Terre in Fayetteville with Bro. Curtis Silcox officiating. Burial will follow in the Belle Terre Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 3-4PM at the Chapel at Belle Terre.
