Ms. Luan Todd Surles, age 99, of Pulaski passed away Friday, October 27, 2023, at NHC Healthcare Pulaski. Ms. Surles was born June 1, 1924, in Pulaski where she lived her entire life and was a graduate of Giles County High School. She was a devoted Christian and a life-long member of First Presbyterian Church Pulaski where she was active for many years with the Presbyterian Women’s Organization and taught early childhood Sunday school and kept the nursery. At the time of her death, she was the oldest lifetime member of First Presbyterian. She was well known for her words of encouragement and “note ministry,” sending out hundreds of inspirational notes, cards, poems and typed quotations from the Bible to lift the spirits of those in need. Ms. Surles grew up on a family farm in the Pigeon Roost community which is still operated by her sister, Mary Jane Cardin and family. She retired after 20 years working as secretary/receptionist with NHC Healthcare Pulaski, and prior to that was employed with McInnis Co, IM &CC, Life & Casualty Insurance, and owned Sew and Save Cloth Center in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee with her husband Knox.
The visitation will be 11:00am to 1:00pm Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at Bennett-May & Pierce Funeral Home.
A graveside service will follow at 1:30pm Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at Maplewood Cemetery in Pulaski, Tennessee.

She is preceded in death, by her parents, Edith Paisley Todd and Jesse Morris Todd of Pulaski, and beloved nephew Monty Cardin.
Survivors include son, Edward Todd Surles (wife Joan); her sister, Mary Jane Todd Cardin; beloved nephew Glenn Cardin; great niece and nephews Elizabeth Cardin, Chase Cardin, Casey Cardin (Bethe) all of Pulaski and Corey Cardin (Danielle) of Lewisburg and great-great nieces and nephews.
