Funeral service for Loy Hern Taylor, 80, of Decatur, will be today at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jackie Kay officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
Mr. Taylor, who died Thursday, February 14, 2013, at his residence, was born February 20, 1932, in Downsville, LA to James Edward and Bertha Taylor. He was retired from Redstone Arsenal. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, D.E. “Tuck” Taylor and James D. Taylor; daughter, Carolyn Pollard; son, EdgarRaymond Polland, Jr.
Survivors include wife of 40 years, Geraldine J. Taylor; daughter, Nancy Ann Barber; sisters, Esther Griffin, Joye T. Byrd, Mary Ava Whittington, Bertha Owens; grandchildren, Allan Ray Moore, Edith Barber, John Michael Moore, Jennifer Carol Cole, Sherri Ann Cromer, Jason Lay, Sean Patrick Pollard; 10 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Allan Moore, John Moore, Michael Cole, Chris Comer, Sean Pollard, John Barber. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Putman, Hershel Moore, Johnny Johnson and Thomas Hendrix.
