Lowell M. (“Lou”) Fikes, age 88, died Sunday August 21, 2016 at NMMC-Pontotoc. He was born April 22, 1928 to William Anders and Cora Elizabeth Fikes in Hamilton, Alabama. He was a Navy veteran and had a long and successful sales career in the food industry. He was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Pontotoc for many years. He was an especially devoted husband to the love of his life, Audrey. He was a very patient and caring father to his children. He was also man of sharp wit and clever humor who enjoyed sharing a good chuckle with everyone. He was loved by many. Finally, he was a HUGE Bama fan! He ushered at Legion Field during the Bear era. He was a season ticket holder and he never missed a Saturday celebrating wins with his family and friends, either at the game or at home on the big screen. ROLL TIDE!
A private ceremony for the family will be performed Saturday August 27th at Barnesville Cemetery in Hamilton, Alabama. There will be no public visitation. Holland Funeral Directors, Tupelo Chapel is assisting the family. Condolences may be emailed to hollandfuneraldirectors@comcast.net
Survivors include his wife of 66 years Audrey Louise, 3 children, Alan (Joyce), Diane, Jeff (Margaret), 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and two daughters, Gail Elizabeth, and Jacqueline Anne.
