Ilouise P Hill  louise Partlow McEntire Hill died at home on March 12, 2023, in Montgomery, AL. Mrs. Hill was born in Tuscaloosa, AL, on Sept. 15, 1926, to Dr. Rufus Cornelius (R.C.) Partlow, Sr. and Mrs. Nancy Ervine Dominick Partlow. She and her brother, Dr. Rufus Cornelius Partlow, Jr., grew up on the grounds of Bryce Hospital where their father was a physician.

A lifelong and devoted Alabama fan, Mrs. Hill was a graduate of Tuscaloosa High School and the University of Alabama. She was the first female editor of the university yearbook The Corolla, president of the Zeta chapter of Kappa Delta sorority, Women’s Student Government board member, and a member of the Alpha Epsilon Delta biology honors society.

In 1947, Mrs. Hill married LeRoy McEntire, Jr. The couple resided in Decatur, AL, with their children Nancy McEntire Bradford (Bob) and LeRoy McEntire III (Vivian Hamlett). There Mrs. Hill served as president of churchwomen at the First United Methodist Church, a consummate Brownie leader, and a swimming and diving instructor.

Mrs. Hill married William Inge Hill, Sr. in 1968 in Montgomery, AL, and her family grew to include William Inge Hill, Jr. (Camille Elebash-Hill) and Lee Hill Beck (James E. Beck, Jr.). After moving, she attended St. John’s Episcopal Church for over 50 years where she was president of the Episcopal Church Women and was also an active member of the Montgomery Garden Club, Pandora Literary Club, Antiquarians, and the Alabama Chapter of the Colonial Dames of America, as well as numerous bridge groups, swimming circles and all manner of get-togethers. Her homemade cheese straws and cinnamon rolls were one of a kind.

Mrs. Hill adored nothing more than being surrounded by her family and friends, and she had plenty of both. All who met her were charmed. Her enthusiasm for life and loved ones was impossible to ignore.

Mrs. Hill is preceded in death by her husbands; her parents and brother; her sisters-in-law Ann McEntire Tankersley and Theresa (Ditsy) Ford Partlow; her son Inge Hill, Jr.; and her son-in-law Bob Bradford.

She is survived by her grandchildren Cammie Hill-Prewitt (Ryan), Kathleen Bradford Bradford (Richard), Maxwell Inge Hill (Sarah Simchowitz), Ilouise Scott Bradford, James E. Beck III (Libby), Frances Beck Rodriguez (Eric), Anne McKenzie McEntire (Kevin Coughlin), Alexandra McAllister McEntire, and Hudson Hamlett McEntire; and her great-grandchildren Louis, Bobby, and Nancy Bradford; Aubrey and Searcy Prewitt; Eva and Emile Rodriguez; Camille Hill; Isla Coughlin; and Anne Tyler and Allie Fitzpatrick; and her steadfast friend Henrietta Bennette; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 15 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Southern Memorial Funeral Home, 3154 Highland Ave. Montgomery, AL.

Funeral services will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church on Thursday, March 16 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Duncan Johnston officiating. The burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include M. Inge Hill, Jim Beck III, Hudson McEntire, Richard Bradford, Louis Bradford, Bobby Bradford, Bill Tankersley, and Chappell Hill.
