Louise Godfrey Maddox, age 89, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2018, at Florence Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Florence, Alabama.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018, at Nelson Funeral Home Chapel, Fayette, Alabama, with Reverend Scott Davis officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Fayette City Cemetery.
Louise G. Maddox was a lifetime member of Fayette First Baptist Church where she faithfully served alongside her husband of 70 years, W. M. Maddox Jr. She also spent many years as a pattern tracer at Betton Manufacturing.
Mrs. Maddox is survived by three children, Shelia Maddox Tucker (Joe), of Russellville, Alabama, Sherry Maddox Price (James), of Fayette, Alabama, and Steve Maddox (Teresa), of Florence, Alabama; grandchildren, Melissa Tucker Medlin (Jamey), Mark Tucker (Leah), Tesha Price Strickland (Todd), Tyler Maddox (Courtney), and Mallory Maddox Willis (Chad); great-grandchildren, Tucker and Heather Medlin, Laney Elizabeth, Joshua, Luke and Joseph Tucker, Bryce and Levi Bolling, and Amira, Adley and Ashlyn Maddox; one sister, Barbara Kellerman, of Fairhope, Alabama; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Maddox will be most remembered as a “mother” to all; to know her was to love her and be loved by her. Her smile and love will be forever etched in the hearts and minds of those blessed by her influence. She was a Proverbs 31 woman and will be remembered as such; a seamstress, a provider, a nurturer, a servant, and a true Godly example.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the nurses and staff of Florence Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for caring for our mother and father in their latter days; you treated them as your own, and we are most grateful.
